Colorado LuMin Housing Initiative Featured on NPR

By March 14, 2024No Comments

On Thursday, March 14, a story about LuMin at Colorado State University was featured on Morning Edition on National Public Radio. In recent years, LuMin CSU has studied the issue of housing insecurity and homelessness extensively and responded in several ways. This year, LuMin CSU has placed 21 financially insecure students in affordable housing with a grant to subsidize the cost of rent. In addition, they are providing mentoring, peer support, and access to a social work intern.

In addition to providing housing, LuMin CSU provides storage for the belongings of additional students displaced during the semester, and access to washers and dryers for anyone in need. Beyond responding to phsyical needs, the student housing security initiative at LuMin CSU hopes to identify, recognize and listen to this often invisible population, surround students with peer and community support, and continue to partner with CSU and the Fort Collins community to respond to student housing insecurity.

Many thanks to Pastor Paul Judson and the staff and student leadership of LuMin CSU for this amazing work!
