June 2018 Conference in Portland, Oregon

Last month we told you the 2018 LCM Conference Planning Team had several venues in the Pacific Northwest under consideration to host our annual gathering. Since then, the field of choices was reduced to our unanimous top-pick, University Place Hotel and Conference Center on the urban campus of Portland State University.

This venue will meet our needs nicely, with comfortable sleeping rooms, hotel amenities, and conference facilities all in one place. Within walking distance is the greater PSU campus, a variety of food purveyors including a block of Portland’s famous food carts, watering holes, pocket parks, the south waterfront esplanade, shopping, museums, innovative architecture, and more.

A real bonus for conference-goers is that the Tri-Met Max light rail system will take you directly from Portland International Airport to the hotel doorstep with only one change of trains downtown, thus saving time, money, and hassle coordinating transportation from/to the airport. Those arriving by train or car can be similarly accommodated.

The conference planning team will meet onsite October 18-20, 2017 to see first-hand how the available spaces and city offerings will combine to make this a very fine conference experience. Soon we’ll determine the conference theme and begin building a schedule to make this a unique and satisfying conference for all.

Remember, New Staff Orientation begins Monday, June 18 – Wednesday June 20, 2018  Conference activities start June 20 (afternoon arrival) and end June 23 (morning departure).

Plan now to join the LuMin community in Portland next summer!
