Our True Selves: Adela’s Story

By May 22, 2025No Comments

LuMin significantly impacted my life and time here at Indiana University. My freshman year was tough being away from my friends and family back home. I was down and honestly felt alone my first semester. It wasn’t until the second semester of freshman year that I consistently came to LuMin. There, Pastor Amanda welcomed me with open arms, a home-cooked meal, and fellowship every Tuesday at Rose House. Through LuMin, I made new friends and built lasting relationships with people.

LuMin provides a safe environment for all of us to talk about our lives, vent about our problems, and celebrate our accomplishments. On Tuesdays, we get to spend time with people who truly care about each other. I have valued the time that I have spent at LuMin, whether it was making meals every Tuesday, taking part in service projects, doing crafts on campus, or just having conversations with my friends. LuMin is a welcoming place where we can all feel comfortable being our true selves and also honor the uniqueness in each of us.

Thank you to all of those who make this student ministry possible through financial support, moral support, and volunteering your time. We are all extremely grateful for the generosity.

LuMin IU, Bloomington, Indiana, is one of 176 ministries affiliated with LuMin, the ELCA Campus Ministry Network.
