AN INVITATION FOR A CAMPUS MINISTRY STUDENT TO ATTEND THE INTERNATIONAL AIDS CONFERENCE IN AMSTERDAM
JUNE 21-27, 2018
Applications due by April 7
Held every two years, the International AIDS Conference (IAC) gathers individuals who are involved in addressing HIV and AIDS, providing extensive opportunities for learning, sharing, and networking. This year’s conference will be held in Amsterdam from July 23- 27, 2018 with the theme of “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges”. Prior to this event on July 21 and 22, there will be a faith pre-conference focused on a conversation around faith communities and the response to HIV. We are excited to be able to take a small group of young adult delegates to represent the ELCA at this conference.
We are excited to extend the invitation for a campus ministry student to attend this event. We encourage students to apply that have a strong commitment to justice and experience in HIV and related fields. This event might be an especially good fit for students later in their college career and graduate students interested in entering into a related field. To make this opportunity possible, ELCA Campus Ministry will cover all the costs for the student to attend the conference in Amsterdam, including travel, registration, lodging and meals. The student chosen to attend the conference will be asked to provide a $100 deposit prior to the event.
For additional information about the conference, you can visit http://www.aids2018.org/, and the faith preconference at http://iacfaith.org/faith-at- aids-2018 .
If you know a student who might be interested in applying, please see the attached application. All applications are due by the end of the day on April 7, and the application requires a letter of support from the campus ministry staff person.
For more information, please do not hesitate to contact Megan Neubauer at Megan.Neubauer@elca.org or (773) 380-2423.
